At 10 x 4 miles long, Deer Island is the smallest of three main islands of the Fundy Isles, with a population of around 1,000. To get to the Island from New Brunswick, take Rte 1 south from Saint John or North from St. Stephen. Take any highway exit between 40-43 and follow the Deer Island Ferry signs on Rte 772 through St George to the L'Etete ferry landing. Deer Island boasts tranquility and relaxation, and plenty for the adventurous nature seeker. Take a whale watching tour in the Bay of Fundy, renowned for it's endangered North Atlantic Right Whale. Watch the playful humpback, giant finback, minke and sei whales as well as the ever-present pods of porpoise and seals which enjoy playing around boats. Hike or bike the winding hills and paths from one million dollar view to the next. See the bald eagle and an endless variety of other birds and wildlife in their natural habitat.
